Don't Suspect a Friend! Report him!
Holy crap. The U.S. government plans to recruit one million spies in the pilot stage of Operation TIPS.
Operation TIPS - the Terrorism Information and Prevention System - will be a nationwide program giving millions of American truckers, letter carriers, train conductors, ship captains, utility employees, and others a formal way to report suspicious terrorist activity.[...]
Operation TIPS, involving 1 million workers in the pilot stage, will be a national reporting system that allows these workers, whose routines make them well-positioned to recognize unusual events, to report suspicious activity
Will repatriate for food.

=v= They're doing this all wrong. They should be using the unemployed for this vital, time-consuming task. The employed are too busy doing real work.

FEMA runs Operation TIPS.
Finally they are getting back to the job they were set up to do, preparing to round up subversives/ dissidents, rather than get distracted with hurricanes and such.
This TIPS program will help mightily in the data collection phase. In the beginning, in will be voluntary. I wonder if later it will be a crime not to report something 'suspicious'. That also would be suspicious.
