Save Our Salon (or, rats boarding a sinking ship)

Salon is in big trouble. They have only the money for 3 more months of operation.

Now, I've taken a great deal of enjoyment from Salon over the years. They have good original articles, good interviews and book and film reviews, and they run some of the best comics out there — This Modern World, Story Minute, Tom the Dancing Bug. I would hate to lose it.

So I just signed up for a 2-year subscription. It may sound quixotic, but if even half their readers subscribed they'd be in the black.

Let's not let this commons be a tragedy, eh?

Comments

I'd sign up for Salon if I were American, but too many of the primo articles are on points of U.S. politics that don't mean very much to me.

We signed up for Salon Premium as soon as they had it. I feel like Salon's been going steadily downhill since -- well, Timprov says I've been saying this since before we got together. Which is kind of scary. But I do think so -- "Life" is just not as high quality a feature as "Mothers Who Think," in my book. (On the other hand, the current lack of serials is a plus for me.)

I'm not doing it for the premium perks — I frankly don't follow U.S. politics all that closely myself.

The most important part for me is the cartoons.
