Such an admonishment, in fact, flashes on the screen whenever the monitor is turned on. But monitors are popping up all around the driver’s seat. “I’ve seen TVs inside the steering wheel and even in the rear-view mirror,” said Daniel Carranza, owner of The Paint Store Automotive Finishes in Modesto. “I think at some point there’s going to be some sort of law (that limits the driver’s view of monitors).”

As if I needed another reason to hate driving.
New York has made it illegal to use a cell phone while driving, unless you have a hands-free device. The biggest effect that I can see from this is a lot of New Yorkers coming over to New Jersey to dial and drive. Sadly, NJ has yet to pass a similar law. I must admit that, although I have stopped initiating phone calls from a moving car, I do sometimes answer the phone while driving.
For that matter, eating while driving has been shown to be even more dangerous than using a phone, and that's one of my favorite things to do on road trips. Someone get me onto a train before I cause a serious accident.
