Punk

Katy St. Clair asks what’s more punk rock than being fat? , offering this delightful slogan:

We’re here, we’re spheres, get used to it.

But in a world that lionizes unhealthy habits, I find fitness a more radical lifestyle than obesity.

"I find fitness a more radical lifestyle than obesity."

I submit that mapping either "fitness" or "obesity" to an axis on which "radical" is a meaningful quality is, well, pretty much the opposite of radical.

Yeah, you're right, that was stated stupidly. What I meant is that taking care of yourself is radical. And that includes (perhaps especially) not beating yourself up. So I'd consider an obese person who isn't beating him or herself over it to be far more radical than a physically fit compulsive exerciser, or someone who maintained good physical fitness only because he or she was convinced that s/he would suck without it.

That said, another part of taking care of yourself is physical fitness, which is something exclusive of obesity (which word I'm using technically, and not in relation to appearance.)
