At last, our long national nightmare is over
I’ve already been disappointed by some of Obama’s positions; I don’t doubt that list will grow longer. But we’ve got a president who’s willing to refer positively to data, statistics, and science, who’s willing to acknowledge that America includes atheiests, and who can do so while speaking in complete sentences.
I’ll take it.
Meanwhile, the next to top story at the moment on Google News is about Michelle Obama’s dress, with a link to 870 articles. Way to remind little girls that a woman’s appearance is the most important thing about her, media.
Superficiality is king, didn't ya know? Or queen. Or something.
On a more optimistic front, I too was purty darn stoked listening to Obama's acceptance and inauguration speeches. To me they emphasized how inclusiveness can be a great path to progress.
But on a more pessimistic front, I don't know how well this country will progress, if at all, these days. Seeing how the House voted strictly along party lines on the stimulus bill shows (to me, at least) that many people still have their heads firmly rooted up their backsides. :( Oh how fear rules the ostriches.
