Malyon
Woo hoo! Malyon is an Emacs major mode for playing interactive fiction (text adventure) games. Infocom games were compiled into z-code to facilitate porting them to multiple platforms — they needed only to write a new z-code interpreter for the new platform and all their games would run. A clever hacker reverse engineered z-code and now there are interpreters everywhere like Malyon or Frobnitz for the Palm.
There are also several adventure writing systems out there, including Inform which compiles to z-code. And there are dozens of free games. Here’s one person’s guide to the best .
